Why not give him the shot when de gea's been pretty crap. He won't reach peak sat on the bench, that's for sure.
It's far more complicated than that.
De Gea is nowhere near top of our problems - dropping the highest paid goalkeeper in the world for an off chance that his replacement who's never played with that group of players might perform slightly better in the role is optimistic at best.
Let Henderson be the cup goalie and ease him in slowly while putting healthy bit of pressure on De Gea who'll know if he suffers a lengthy drop in form he might lose his place.
