06 Dodge 2500. 2wd



I dropped the control arm to remove it. Now I cant get it baack in. I tried jacking the lower control arm up to compress spring but it just lifts the truck:(

go to the autoparts store and rent a coil/spring compressor but be careful they are kinda sketchy

2500 arent mcpherson, the coil sit on top of the axle iirc

Yea this is 2wd so it sit on top of the lower control arm. None of the compressors would compress it more than a few inches.

Called a mechanic and he said tie down the truck and jack up the control arm to get it in. It was verry tricky because it starts out at a extreme angle.

Hello! Sorry for the late response on results!

I did indeed use the lower control arm and a bottle jack to compress the coil into place! I had to cut wood to prop the adjacent side.


The control arm had a pretty good slot for it to sit in so it would not spring out, now getting it to seat correct was a different story.

Tldr
Whole front end is replaced and drives perfect!

The rack and pinion flexes a bit so I unno about that.
