friend of my just recommended it yesterday. I didn't look into how to use DDU too much, just followed what it recommended to clear GPU drivers and then downloaded and reinstalled manually. Should I do more than that through DDU? Is there a driver management program you'd recommend? I have Driver Booster 7 installed currently. Only dled it recently while trying to troubleshoot my problem in the OP.

right click start > system > system info > advanced system settings > hardware tab > device installation settings > select no > save and exit
Boot pc into safe mode > run ddu for nvidia > then do a fresh install of your drivers

Try that as windows may be redoing your drivers without your knowledge.

If still no progress I'd just format it and rule out all software being the issue.
Then proceed to test hardware there after as to save time.

will do, ty!

edit: it seemed like windows didnt reinstall nvidia drivers because i could clearly notice i was running in basic graphics mode. i'll still do what you recommend, but i'm not terribly optimistic. we'll see what happens

thank you for the help

i tried everything except a full wipe and had no success. i planned on getting a 30 series gpu anyway, so i got a 3060ti and was still having shit frames in csgo, but good frames everywhere else. when i was installing my gpu i noticed i had two pcie slots on mobo, but didnt think anything about it at the time. i decided to check my mobo specs (b450 gaming plus max) and it turns out it has both a pcie 2 and a pcie 3 slot, and i had been using the pcie 2 slot for my old gpu and for the new 3060 ti. i swapped to the pcie 3 slot and voila, everything works great again. getting a steady 350-500 fps in csgo now. oddly, my fps in pubg were unaffected regardless of pcie slot. im certain that at one point in time the pcie 2 slot ran 300+ fps on csgo, but for some reason it stopped. potentially related to newer drivers? who knows, but everyone out there with csgo fps issues should double check the pcie slot that their gpu is in and make sure theyre using the newest version pcie
