499$ disc model
399$ digital only

remember folks also get disc versions... you'll save more than 100$ in the longrun if you know how to shop properly for games.

Only if you go back and play old single-player games.

A lot of people only play games when they first come out, especially when it comes to online games because the online community inevitably dies down overtime.

the only thing I used discs for on the ps4 was sharing games with my roommate in college, now that I'm not there I see no reason to get the disc version

probably just going to get the digital

I’ve gotten 90% of my games for 40$ or less depending either via bestbuy gamers club/ Ebay used copies / amazon / walmart

I got siege for 15$ when it was only a year old where PSN still sells the digital copy for 40$.

I guess brand new is tougher but I have such a backlog I could care less for most games for most brand new. Even with brand new you can buy used copies generally around 40$ and resell when you are done.

digital is always cheaper than disc versions.

Almost every game eventually drops below 9.99 digitally, where 9.99 is usually about as low as retailers go when they throw it into a "bargain" bin. Sometimes you can snag a few at 5 and below but thats about it.

Digital almost always goes on sale first as well, so don't forget about that.

That’s just not true sadly. I can list out vast examples but I’ll just list a few. Trust me a majority of the time copies can be bought through 3rd party much cheaper than PS digital store. Sale prices on the digital store also usually don’t cone close to sales of used physical copies.

Few examples:

FFX - 12$ ebay 25$ PSN Store
FINAL FANTASY 14complete edition : 11$ ebay/ 60$ digital
FF XII Zodiac Age: 15$ ebay, 50$ digital.

Siege 10$ ebay / 40$ psn (and this item is on sale on PSN...)
Horzon zeri dawn: 9$ ebay, 20$ PSN
GoW 10$ ebay / 20$ PSN...

Lets go with some new games:

Ghost of Tsus: 40$ ebay BIN / 40$ best buy gamers club / 60$ psn
TLOU2: 49$ BIN ebay/ 40$ best buy gamers / 60$ psn digital.

These are simply a few OF MANY examples. So no your point is incorrect, physical is 90% of the time cheaper. This isn’t even considering the RESELL value if you are fine shipping your old games sold over amazon / ebay and getting money back after playing.

Sure, most of the games I listed above from Ebay are used copies but honestly that never bothered me and I have yet to have had an issue with any of the games I have purchased.

Digital only is simply a monopoly of the PSN store and you can always find older games you missed out on for dirt cheap. Like dark souls I never played those games are 1-3$ now but still 20$ + on psn digital.

oh, yeah, third party you can, i prefer not to deal with third party and just go amazon etc.
So in your case yeah you can get them cheap early.

also, im talking all time lows, not really current prices, like GOW all time low is 9.99 as well for isntance

I don't like the all time low argument though, can't tell you how many times I have missed all time lows or generally didn't want the game at that point in time. Ebay is pretty much 10$ all the time Best Buy is 20% off all games all the time, I like the convivence of when I want it I can get it instead of waiting for it to pop on sale.

Ebay has been very good with returns and same with Bestbuy so I haven't really had any problems which is why I prefer physical. Personally there is just so much more benefits going that route, I'll easily save 100$ over 7 years worth of buying hard copies. I'll probably sell back 100$ worth of games alone

Don't really think there is much for debate which is the better route, it's pretty clear but it becomes what is more of a preference regardless of benefits. If you don't want to store all of these hard copies or risk breaking / losing games I understand. But in terms of hard $$, hard copies will always be the way to go until Ebay / Amazon / Bestbuy / etc learn and start selling digital codes

So in short, why should I buy a PS5 when I have a PS4 that does everything I need already?
