Right? There's actually a chance of this not sucking ass without him, not sure how people still don't realize that Smith is pretty much a guaranteed dumpster fire these days. The guy has played the exact same character for 30 years and it just doesn't work for shit anymore. To be fair, outside a handful of okay movies, it never did.

I still have incredibly low expectations, but without him needing as much screen-time as he always requires, this might have a chance.

Haha, couldn't have said it better. I agree 100% that Elba is a huge improvement over Smith though, he alone makes me kind of want to see it, since he's been rather intelligent about selecting what roles he takes. Outside the occasional cash grab like Hobbes and Shaw, which is probably all this is, but I still enjoy him a lot, even when he's in meh movies like that mockery of the Dark Tower, I still like him a lot.
