Got an email recently from local theater asking a bunch of questions, got me wondering what people here think.

Honestly I'm slightly hoping this thing leads to more instant (or at least quicker) digital releases. There are definitely movies I think I'd want the theater experience for but overall...meh.

I generally hate theaters. They are too loud and make my ears ring.

However, Tenet seems like the kinda movie that needs to be watched right away. Wait for it to come to streaming and you'll miss out on the conversation and probably get spoiled. If not for Tenet, my answer to the poll would be that movie worthy of the theater viewing only comes along once every 5-6 years.

Probably never. Haven't felt much reason to go to the movies outside of the local drive in, can get a big ass tub of popcorn and a big ass soda and still come out ahead with the ticket compared to a regular theater and my truck seats are more comfortable + AC.

I don't think there has been a drive in anywhere near me since before I was born. What area of the world are you in?

East coast, US. We have one left that's part junk yard/repair shop. They purchased the empty lot next to the yard and paved half of it for parking and turned the other half into the drive in.
It's been around for a decade and they seem to be doing well still, the field is always packed with vehicles and they always have the same movies that are in theaters, so they must be doing something right.
Saturdays and Sundays are the old school movie reel nights, during the week they use the digital projector.

5 years

probably never because many will permanently go out of business.

Take a look at this one. It’s the future:

I would love to go back to the theatre. Would be a shame if the smaller ones had to close down.

It's just a different expierence and I still love it.

Depends on the movie though. After a few horrible experiences I will never visit a blockbuster screening again. The audience is just unbearable.

If interesting movies pop up I will go back to the cinema again. Not interested in decade old releases.

Love theaters and currently going. Unfortunately not much to see here atm, since Hollywood is holding everything back.
