Dueling Strategy:

Main skills - Use Blizzard and Ice Blast. Glacial against summoners to kill summons. Frozen Orb to chip away at life if opponent is low.

C/T trick - The best way to cast Blizzard off screen. If your opponent is to the upper left corner of your screen, hit C to open up Character screen and cast blizzard on the upper left corner. It will cast further away than you would normally. Same applies to upper right side of screen, hit T to bring up skill tree window and repeat. This allows you to stay off screen of your opponent and still hit them with blizz. This also leads to people accusing you of using AA very often.

Invisible Blizz - Blizz in the far corners of your screen and tele far away in the opposite direction. The blizz will become invisible and could potentially hit anyone who walks through it.

Namelock - self explanatory - click blizz or iceblast on opponent’s name.

Chainlock - Use if opponent is running scared or you’re on the offensive. Click and hold blizzard or iceblast on opponent’s name, and while holding down, Move your cursor to your own character. Switch to teleport and you will teleport on top of your opponent. You can then reclick them with iceblast to stomp them hard, or relock with teleport and continue to chain stomp them.

Running - Do not underestimate the power of running. When your opponent stomps you with namelock teleport, they will land on top of you. Run down and cast iceblast upwards to hit them.

Self-blizz - When dueling stomp-heavy opponents like Wind Druid, Hdin, Barbs, etc. Cast blizzard on yourself and wait for them to stomp. When they do, run south and iceblast up. Recast blizz on yourself if they try to stomp again, or teleport away and cast blizz from far range.

Predict cast - against running characters / charge characters, cast blizz in the path of their trajectory instead of direction on them.

WSG - if you are caught in FHR animation with stun from skills like Barb’s Leap or Trapper’s Mindblast, quickly switch your weapon rapidly and walk away, then teleport away.

Kiting - Stay offscreen against opponents and cast blizz on them or in their path, then tele away and repeat.

Individual Matchups:

Vs. Barbs - Use damage setup. General rule of thumb: Keep your distance. If a barb is leaping, stay off screen and C/T cast them. They will then try to close in, during which you self-blizz and avoid their ww. If they are in WW animation, try to cast blizz where you think they will WW through, not right on them. If they have WW locked you, teleport in a straight line and blizz the path between you and the trailing barb. Be careful to not let the distance close too much, as the WW animation is often desync’d. WSG if you are caught in leap stun.

Vs. Bowazons - Use damage setup. This is a game of tag and run. Teleport in a circular pattern towards the zon, cast blizz on them, then run away. Take advantage of the corners in Blood Moor to get rid of trailing guided arrows. If you get close enough to stomp a bowazon, stomp, iceblast and see if they WSG or run. If so, cast blizz and teleport away to avoid the run+GA+run+GA stutter shots.

Vs. Javazons - Use lightning setup. Similar to above but DO NOT STOMP. Even with lighting setup, their CS can hurt a lot. You should have no problem just kiting them with blizz and staying away from their LF.

Vs. Necros - Use damage setup. Don’t let them wander too far away from you lest you run into a field of IBS. Keep close distance, blizz and self-blizz as Necros tend to stomp you with their golem. Use glacial spike to hit necro through golem if they stomp, but mostly I would tele away. If they are ever caught without golem, stomp them into oblivion.

Vs. Trapsin - Use lightning setup. If they are campers, stay offscreen as much as possible and kite them with CT cast to force their hand. If they are aggressive chasers, prepare to use WSG a lot to escape MB. Tough duel overall, but most trappers can’t take more than a few blizz hits so you’ll have to make sure to stay alive and kite them as many times as possible and hope for a connection.

Vs. WWSin - Use damage setup. Same strategy as Barb.

Vs. Hybridsin - Use all around setup. Never get caught in their traps. Treat as a trapper and kite. Self blizz and blast if they try to stomp for WW and tele away. Do not try to tank.

Vs. Hammerdin - Use Damage setup. one of my favorite matchups. Most stack a lot of resists and desync charge to create invisible hammer fields. Try to predict their charge direction and cast in their path. Don’t let them stay offscreen. Walking is KEY to defeat stomping hdins. Self cast blizz and walk south, cast iceblast up, repeat. They shouldn’t hit you if you time it right with their stomps.

Vs. Charger / Zealot - Use damage setup. Predict cast blizz in their charge path, do NOT let them get close to you. If you see they’ve locked you with charge, tele away immediately to break the lock. Kite as much as possible.

Vs. Auradin - Use All Around Setup or resists setup depending on Aura. Same strategy as above.

Vs. FOH - Use lightning setup. Stay offscreen and NEVER let conviction set in. Kite, CT cast and predict cast blizz for entire duel.

Vs. Wind Druid - Use all around setup. Difficult duel. They usually stomp and stomp often and their pets take blizz hits often. Use walking strategy to avoid stomps. Usually if they lose their cyclone armor they will retreat, that’s when you stomp with iceblast.

Vs. Fb sorc - Use fire setup. Usually FBers will either spam from afar or try to telestomp. If they are spamming, teleport in a circular path and blizz them. If they stomp, iceblast up. Self blizz works if they have a namelock or chainlock on you. Walking south In a zig zag also works if they try to stomp, and run through your own blizzes for agressive fbers. If they are casting fb downwards, stomp them with IB if you can get a lock.

Vs. Lightning sorc - Use lightning setup. Similar to above, but most lightning sorcs are not as aggressive and will try to let the speed and length of lightning to get you from further away. Stomp battles usually go your way unless they get a high roll on lightning.

Vs. Infinity sorc - Use lightning setup but with Kira’s. Same as above, but try to avoid being close to them. Kite with blizz and lock stomp them only if you don’t have conviction on you before you tele. If you have conviction set in, tele away to break immediately.

Vs. Blizz sorc - Use cold setup. Test of your skills. Iceblast stomp battles. The better namelocker wins.

See title: Budget.

Also see the dueling section.

I noticed previous guides in the common thread didn’t include a dueling section so I figured it would be helpful for those who don’t have a lot of gold to buy fletch / btals / perfect gear but still want to duel with a blizzer. It was effective for me, thought I’d share it.

63 fcr means you’ll be destroyed by any trapper / sorc. Also how do you maintain max resists with enigma?

In SvS ladder not a single sorc was 63 FCR, trust and believe you wouldn’t win a single battle against any good sorc without 105 fcr.
