Does FHR matter for A5 merc?

I've read conflicting statements:

Some say FHR literally has no effect on A5 merc because... reasons?

Others say it does matter:



What is the truth? Is it worth using gear to reach one of these A5 merc FHR breakpoints?

the wiki isn't always right
Act 5 mercs have no hit recovery animation, %FHR does nothing and they are simply immune to hit recovery effects
they cannot be interrupted by stun, have no block % or animation, cannot be knockbacked and thus cannot be interrupted

you can stand there spamming mind blast namelocked on an act 5 merc and it will just casually stroll up to you and whoop your ass


this is pretty much their selling point as a PvP merc, they can telestomp people and get off a hit or two where an Act 2 merc might just die- and with bugged damage that gives them 2x base and 3x +min/max from 1 handed weapons, they can deal very high damage per hit, eth upped headstriker is the go-to easy option. Think of it like you might an act 2 merc who has an "I can't be interrupted" aura, that doesn't need to activate after respawning.

Thank you for the detailed response – this is very helpful.

I'm currently using a Last Wish CB for the extra range and damage, which results in more life returned through Life Tap. With CB, i'm at 5.5 FPA after Fana.

I could reach 4.5 FPA with a PB, though damage would appear to be much lower. Not sure how to calculate given bug you mentioned?

shoot for a 1hand weapon first, also weapon range doesnt matter on merc
