I honestly didn't know this was a thing, but apparently the government can come onto your property and place surveillance cameras recording you on your property and it passes constitutional muster in most states:

Basically under the idea that anybody can come onto your property and it's not your personal home so we're not actually spying since we could park somebody out there to watch you without even being on your property.

If the field is open and visible to the public on other properties then it's not illegal spying, but if they broke into a house or building that was obscured from general view, that would be illegal spying.

Check out the link. They describe 100+ acres, 1 road in/out, gated, signs up stating no trespassing, properly posted, and they still came in and put up cameras.

Curtilage is protected. This is about open spaces of your property outside the curtilage.

Would it be illegal to take down those cameras which are standing on your own property?
