Would you guys sacrifice 2k defense to get +5 max fire res, up from 90 to 95?

trying to fine tune my paladin, and thinking of pumping some into res fire to increase max fire res instead of holy-shield. I figure, 99% of my time is spent in hell chaos, or hell trav, so the increased fire res would be nice.

what do yall think?

No way, if you're already using spurs you should be fire immune.
Defense is way better at that point

Do you think that hold true if you have 11k, and its dropping to 9k? The reason I ask is I've honestly havent been able to tell difference between 6-11k defense so it feels wasted. idk though!

Chaos knights vs Defense, with 75 block
the difference between 6 and 11k is still about 33% less physical dmg (indirectly).
90 to 95% fire res would reduce fire dmg you take by 50%. Values at 90fr are already low though.
getting 80% LR could be an option aswell for light enchantments?

i'd still prioritise def though, unless you are running a well equipped nate din, that has very high def values already.

Wow, thanks alot. The graph is really helpful. Yeah I'm running a nate din HC trying to just fine tune. 1 quick question, chaos knight? Is that the melee form of the oblivion knights? I tried looking them up in the monster wiki. Where did u grab your data from? tyyy

Collected the Data myself in singleplayer. It's actually Doom Knight, german translation tricked me again. Got to change it.

Checked the hitchance every 1000 def and calculated in the max block to find some useful values.

Wow nice. Well thanks alot, I'm not quite sure what I will do yet, but when I respect I'll examine my exact defense with 10 skill points remaining to decide 10 h/s or fire res. Really seems like somewhere in that 9-11k defense range, alot of diminishing returns!

Again, I'm only thinking this because I'm assuming a large portion of the dmg source in Hell CS & Trav is fire (and alot of my deaths are from CE :P)

The defense drop doesnt seem like itll do much according to that chart, I say follow your heart and go 95 fire, I can tell you really want to and maybe the defense is overrated eyyy

Shouldnt character level be included in those calculations as well?

why ? you level doesnt affect the monster's hit chances.
