this is my pc https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Jc3pCL

i have tried disconnecting my aio pump, wiped off the thermal paste, reapplied it, and reinstalled it. i am still seeing higher temps than i would like to
i've read that there may be a voltage problem with the motherboard delivering too much power to the processor, but i have it set to Auto in the bios so shouldn't it deliver just what is needed?

there is a photo of my bios overview

there is a photo of my temps monitored by NZXT's Cam software inside the OS while posting this. sorry for asking all this stuff, i am a new builder and am trying to make sure i didn't fuck something up lol

I think it may have something to do with my cpu ALWAYS at a boosted clock speed.. I have never seen it at its base clock in task manager despite me not trying to OC

1.4v constantly is too high.

You likely need to disable the constant overclock/boost functionality in the bios somewhere

game boost and neither of the xmp profiles are enabled, any idea what else it could be?

This is pretty normal for these Ryzen 3000 series CPUs. If you watch the CPU temp on a side scrolling graph, you'll see the waveform the temps draw, looks like a sawtooth.

I'm running the 3700X (65w) CPU and here is my side scrolling graph of a stress test that's hard but not that hard. At idle, these CPUs constantly change the CPU Diode temp, making a sawtooth waveform.
There's 100's of articles about this. The CPU Diode temp seems to fluctuate about 10C, repeatedly. They have a max. temp of 95C, and I'm not sure whether that is the CPU temp or the CPU Diode temp.

Point is, this is normal for these CPUs.

/e The high temps during the stress test were between 72C and 80C, with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO air cooler (push/pull) fans.

60 degrees idle is normal? But I see other people achieving <35 degrees with the same cpu and weaker coolers, I’m trying to accomplish the same thing lol :/

I’m sure it’s closely related to my cpu never being at its base clock speed. If you look in my task manager pic, it’s at 4.16 ghz which means it’s in a boosted state. I cannot get it to drop down below that UNLESS I switch the windows power plan to energy saver which borks performance :(

Update: In my BIOS OC settings I changed core voltage something from Auto to Offset (-) and gave it a value of .100000 or some shit.
No idea what I'm doing there... anyway I also downloaded Ryzen Master because I heard it monitors much more accurately than most of anything else.
My temps seem to be decent, as in other people with the same CPU have similar temps and spikes, BUT... my voltage is still at a constant 1.4 volts
Does anyone have any idea how to keep my voltage at a level that won't fry my CPU?

After seeing this thread, I did some more research. According to AMD, to read the core voltage at idle... they recommend CPU-Z.

In my BIOS and in AIDA64 Extreme it LOOKS like the core voltage is stuck at 1.4x v. However, in CPU-Z, the vcore fluctuates between ~.5xx v up to at worst.. 1.4 low... mainly 1.376

/e Even at 100% CPU load, the vcore stays around 1.376 volts. This is a long read, but worth it. Rigg42 is the AMD guy...

CPU-Z provides more accurate information than Ryzen Master? :o
i will try it

According to AMD. Rigg42, posted a long quote of himself, more or less, in the top link I provided. He talks about it in there.
He also mentions, how "other" monitoring software, can cause incorrect readings, in yet, "other" monitoring software. Rigg42, also answers a lot more questions further down in the chat, in that first link.

And the 2nd link has some tweaks that supposedly help with the temps.

Lot of other reading turned up that AMD recommends HWInfo64 for temps monitoring, and ofc, CPU-Z for vcore readings.

I spent a bit of time last night checking those things out. Seemed legit, as far as it went.

/edit If you decide to go crazy, messing around with this... check out the free backup software from Macrium Reflect. It's awesome and really easy on resources. Best of all with their bootable media, you can get to your backups even when Windows won't boot. :)
