Not too convinced about this moneyball approach from Liverpool so far, Robertson aside, stick to spending £100Ms on Allisons and Van Dijks.

ffs being a sports jouno in 2020 must be a piece of piss, dick about on FM20 one afternoon and get paid for it

Alisson came from Roma and Van Dijk from Southampton, neither was considered world class when we bought them.

We are overachieving with this squad, no doubt about it, just imagine what Klopp could do with citeh's money. Having a world class manager just makes players look better. I bet you thought Cleverley, Welbeck and Jones were good players when they won the league under SAF.

Liverpool so far:

Out:
- Lovren £10.9m
- Lallana (free)
- Clyne (free)

Combined wages of £270k p/w freed from the wage bill too :hail:

In:
- Tsimikas £11.7m (still to be confirmed)

So far, not bad. Left back cover was always a priority, but now we need to go for a decent CB, winger and possibly CM. I think that's only going to happen if we sell two of Shaqiri/Wilson/Grujic/Karius though.

Scratch that

It's not like they're nobodies and Klopp turned them into diamonds, they were already class and their fees reflected that especially Van Dijk who was considered one of the best players in the Prem when he was still at Soutampton.

With Koeman in charge of Barca, I think he's going to try and lure Wijnaldum, especially considering he's in the final year of his deal. We'd probably let him go for £20-25m.

I'm sure Van Dijk will be linked too but he's contracted to 2023 and would cost them an absolute fortune.

Are Liverpool buying anyone good or just trying to hit another miracle jackpot with their little moneyball approach?

For like a £50m+ signing, I think 3 out of Shaqiri/Wilson/Grujic/Karius would need to be sold before we'd commit to it.

Regardless, we still may go for Thiago, who by all accounts is pretty good but isn't the right age profile.

How are Liverpool still shopping in the bargain bin having won CL last year and the Prem this season?

A global pandemic resulting in the loss of all our matchday revenues?

We operate a self-sustaining model where FSG expect LFC to live within their own means, as opposed to taking on loads of debt like many other clubs.

In addition, as a club we pay wages that weigh heavily towards bonuses for various criteria; winning trophies being a big one. We've got a pretty big wage bill, about the same as City's, which probably just got a bit higher from paying out the bonuses for winning the premier league.

It has also been mentioned that the board wanted the players to take wage deferrals during the pandemic and have left the door open for that. Buying Werner for £50m+ on high wages would undermine those negotiations, which still may happen if stadiums remain empty for the foreseeable future.

Every club is affected by covid 19, Liverpool less so than most of others due to their significant off the field revenue, and yet third transfer window in a row, the committee instead of strengthening look for another miracle - you well know the drop off in quality once one of forward three gets injured is pretty dramatic.
