I honestly don't understand why so many people act like SW 4-6 are the pinnacle of space movies. They are actually pretty unapologetically average in terms of acting/directing/writing.

The special effects were obviously crazy, and the sound design is amazing. But the same can be said for every star wars movie.

Outside of episode 5 they're not all that special in terms of what makes a movie good. 4 had its moments, but given how much Lucas stole to create it and how badly he needed the assistance of others to even make it a marketable film, it's hard to consider it amazing. I shouldn't need to explain to anyone how bad 6 was, but countless people I've talked to claim 6 is their favorite, so just goes to show, nostalgia is a much stronger force than logic or reason. Ewoks is the only thing that anyone should need to say to point out how bad 6 was.

I like the idea but idk how Disney can pull it off when those movies are already in existence..

Disney fkd up and should have listened better in the first place.

You can't blame Disney for not knowing that the same people who've been buying their canned product forever would suddenly disapprove of that product since it's now SW. You all still like their Marvel films, it's the exact same product just reskinned.

None of you people know what you want in the first place, but I can't even fathom how bad of a film would be created if Disney actually cared about the input from fans. Sure, they'll shift gears and change directions and throw in some pandering with an old fan favorite lol, but to actually listen to the opinions of Disney fans would be madness.

I'm 100% positive epi9 was written based on all the complaining done about epi8. All of the garbage in that movie can be traced back. I'm willing to bet "oh fans hated x and wanted y so let's do it" is something that was said a lot in the writers room. Like I enjoyed 7+8 for the most part but I can't even with 9.

My next sentence speaks to that. They were willing to throw everything in the trash and rewrite based on complaints, throwing in a fan favorite to pander to people, but that's not having it go the direction fans wanted or whatever, it's just throwing shit to the wall and seeing what sticks, little bit different than what I was saying. I think 8 is probably the worst SW movie ever made, so I can't say I agree with you there, but 9 was pretty fucking bad too.

I think the action in 8 was hot garbage. They should have spent more time on getting the action down, like the throne fight had so many cringy moments and screw ups. Storywise I think 8 would have been better looking back at it if 9 followed through with all the things 8 set up instead of throwing it all away because of all the fan crying.

Like I enjoyed the ideas of separating Rey from the Skywalker line, and making Kylo into the true villian instead of giving him a redemption arc.

Edit: also less casino planet would have been nice.

superhero movies seem to get away just fine with repeatedly rebooting the hero

I'd have to rewatch it to aptly discuss all the things I disliked about it, but I remember having a list a mile fucking long when I came out of the theater. So many tiny to huge problems throughout and I agree with you on all the parts you specifically pointed out.

Lol, tell me about it. Has this ever mattered to any movie company ever? They'll remake ANYTHING if they think there's money in it and as long as SW exists, there's ALWAYS going to be money in making more movies. They should just start fresh and let a director make a single or two-part standalone film that has nothing to do with the current skywalker line and that has nothing to do with known SW lore. Just let someone actually fucking create something without massive interference from Disney and there's a chance it could be enjoyable.
