From my experience, Chrome can be very resource intensive, so that may be the issue - especially if you have a lot of browser windows open.

This. I'd recommend: a. uninstalling any unused Chrome extensions, or b. using a different browser (Firefox, Opera, etc.).

I made the switch to Vivaldi and just figured to come back and update you in case it helps in any way.

The only downside I can find is that this current version has a slight issue with hardware acceleration and some sites I've visited seem to load slower then normal.
It's a minor hiccup which can be avoided with the previous stable version or waiting for an update. Oh and default search is "Bing" so do change that.

The Plus side is there's more options like old opera for customizing it. All my sites work as before where as years ago opera would just not work on some sites.
Mostly government based sites that would force you to use Internet explorer. Additionally the browser sync function is working on this unlike the most recent stable
version of opera where it just doesn't work period. It has everything Opera had except for the free VPN service in the private browsing. Which I'll add is kinda stupid
as opera kept logs thus defeating the purpose of it. The tab organization options are amazing though I doubt I'll use it.

All in all I think I'll stay on Vivaldi moving forward at least for now.
