Hey!
Because of this: https://forums.d2jsp.org/info.php?p=3

The name you choose cannot contain any special characters, ONLY letters and numbers.

Special symbols are no longer allowed to be elegible in your username. One reason - I'm sure there are more, is because when you "mention" a user, it seems to have incompatilibities with users with *some* special symbols due to the "^" ^SpeedOfLight

Actually my names supported, just needs to be done like so ^"king atrhur"

Added ^USERNAME notification for posting. When used, it will send the user a notification they've been mentioned/quoted in that topic. If a username has any characters besides alphanumeric, you must quote it like so: ^"USER NAME" (Sep 26 2019)

They were removed to stop multi's from pretending to be others mostly iirc.

Yeah - that's why I stated *some* of them.
There was a case where the user's account was (example): [Clan]Ricci - so when you tried to mention him such as ^[Clan]Ricci it didn't work due having the special symbol right at the beginning of the name: ^[

That user's account ended up with a name change into either ClanRicci or Ricci :)

Any way, you will have to stick to use the normal symbols if you'd like to change your account name ^_^

I see. Thanks for explaining. Most of the cool names without special sign are already taken by other people not logging through years.

Ok but that's not a reason why they are no longer allowed. The feature is dated 2019.
Your telling me paul disabled it 10+ years ago with knowledge at that time it would mess with this feature.

oh please.

I'm just saying that how you phrased it is incorrect.

Kevin told me they simply didn't want them anymore. Makes sense to me.
