Somewhat confused with this and tried reading several articles on google. What I understand is they both have to be in the same link/skill to be supported. What I don't understand is, does flesh and stone have to be in blood stance for it to stack the maim support? Or will it still work in both stances?

So yes, only in BS.

only really works in blood stance, however, it supports BOTH stances.
If you're just using Sand Stance put F&S into an Unset ring or 1l.
silly me, most ring bases don't have a socket, lol
