Hi all,

I think my video card is dead.....PC wouldn't boot past BIOS screen......tried all the repair/driver tactics....I unplugged the video card and hooked monitor up to mobo and everything works fine.

If you have another idea for me to try please let me know.

However, if it's dead, can someone recommend a card that will work/good value in this system?

i5-2500k
MSI Z77A G45 LGA 1155 mobo
Rosewill Hive 750 power supply
XFX DD 7850 2GB radeon (dead vid card)

System still works great so I dont really want to replace it if I can fix relatively cheap. I only play Wow/streaming/etc

Thanks for any help!

This one seems compatible and should be an upgrade. Anyone have another opinion? Most compatible/cheaper cards are no longer available or seem overpriced.

I wound up buying a 580 because they were compatible and available locally at Best Buy. ($180)

Problem was immediately fixed!

Thanks!

Good choice.

Also what cooler do you have on the 2500K and have you already overclocked it? a stock 2500K miiiiight bottleneck the 580 a little bit,

It was known to be a pretty beastly overclocker, some could hit 4.5GHZ with some good cooling. Hell, you could probably get 4.0 Ghz with just the stock cooler.

Nice. I used the same cooler and it kept my 2700k cool at 4.5ghz

Its free performance.
