Hi guys,

Today, I exited a game with full HP, while in a seemingly empty throne of destruction (waves had been cleared already). After a longer than normal exit time I just alt+F4'd the d2 window and reloaded.

When logging back into my account, my character was invisible, and then when trying to make/join game, it was unavailable. So I'm guessing I died somehow, but my char is not in the death robe, literally its a completely invisible character on my char selection page. I googled this issue and all I could find was a thread from 2004 where people mentioned that they had the invisible char glitch happen and they basically chalked it up to death by lag.

Has anyone else had this happen? Honestly, I was literally 100% hp in game, game crash, log back in, dead. I'm thinking these wacky ass servers from this season basically rip'd me.

Got the answer.

Invisible char happens when there is somehow lag at the simultaneous moment of death. I.e. crossing from 1 to 0 hp, as a server or connection lags, which registers your character as a 0-hp entity, but not technically "dead". Hence being invisible and unplayable, but not clothed in the grey robes.

Long story short, these servers are shit and I experienced some bad timing and rip'd. But hey, that's HC.
