What do you look for?

Also, what's the difference between gaming monitor and normal monitors?

Generally you look for these stats...

27" 2560x1440, IPS, 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time.

Why those stats and what do they mean?

27" is the size of the monitor, why stop there why not go bigger?

2560x1440 is the resolution I'm guessing?

IPS?

Refresh rate?

IPS: gives a larger viewing angle, and better picture
High refresh rate is better for fast moving games like a first person shooter or driving game.

Also, the higher the resolution on a GOOD monitor, really drives the price up.

The bigger the monitor and or the higher the resolution...the more powerful the graphics card you would need to drive it.

Here are some monitors for sale in Canada, that fit the specs I mentioned...

/e Both ASUS and ACER, make pretty great monitors.

/ee Also... right now is not a great time to buy computer hardware. Most of it is made in the far east (China, Taiwan, etc) and because of the coronavirus, are not getting restocked as fast as they should be.

The prices are higher than they should be too. Rich people are buying them all, then reselling them on places like Amazon for much higher prices than normal.

for 24" monitor - 1080p and try to find 120hz+
for 27" monitor - 1440p and same try to find a high refresh rate 120+.

refresh rate = more frames per second makes your game look faster and smoother.

also very important is try to get 1ms which is for gaming.

you can get IPS which makes color's a ton better, as well as view angles. but lots of people still dont use it it'll just be like having any other monitor you've ever had if you dont. might be brighter and better cause new, but it'll be similar.
