Your save ex on the beast craft vs double ex slam, not the prefixes cannot be changed.

how do you figure
you spend 2 ex to craft pfx cannot be changed
then use 2 beast
you have now spent 2ex + 2 beast

or
just slam twice
2ex no beast

one method you spent 2 ex the other you spend 2ex + 2 beast

both end with 2 new suffixes on the item

You still need prefix can not be changed to scour and beasts are cheaper than exalts.
Double ex slam is 4 ex, single is 3, beasts are cheaper than both options.
You do this multiple times.
