So last night here in USA wisconsin, temps went from 65f to 80.
This morning I put my windows AC unit in the window.
I set it for 60F , as it was 88-90F outside.
I went to sleep....
it was raining out...
Temperature outside dropped to 66F ....
I woke up, and my house was at 92F !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! holy shit , I couldn't even feel my right leg when i woke up, and i was just drenched in sweat.
I asked my girlfriend if she was Cooking something in the oven , ( even the oven doesn't make our home this warm )
Nothing was cooked.
Checked the window ac unit, still was blowing a decent amount of cold air ( so i don't expect any clogs or filter issues)
So if its 66F outside
ac unit set for 60F
why is it 88-90F in my home?
we had all tvs/lights/ half the house unplugged.
The only thing thats on is our ac unit & phones.
Does anyone have any ideas of what could be going on?
I called my mom she said maybe a De-Humidifier?
I put 1 of our simple window fans on 1 side of the house, and 1 on the other side to exhaust.
Seemed to help lower temps down to 80f pretty Quickly after 5-7 minutes.
But its still extremely warm/hot in here.
I live in a Duplex home 2n'd floor. ( so i can understand a little more heat ) but
we are surrounded by giant tall tree's, so we shouldn't lose any wind/breeze effect, and we get plenty of shade.
so I'm not understanding.
i think this unit is roughly 5 years old, never got a new filter , as i just rub the dirt off of it, if it gets bad. ( when the light comes on )
Light hasn't come on yet, so i assume it should be fine? idk?
Not sure if this is a thing like cars.... but
Do window AC units normally have to be re-charged? what do you guys think?
Window ac units kind of suck
Fans can help
Keep all windows and blinds closed during the day and open them at night
