Anyone would like to generally guide me on what to look for when picking up items and what to do?

I am about to start this game, would like to know some general info before diving into it.

imo the best thing you can do is just start a random character and play for a bit

Just use a loot filter like the guy above said and check prices if something seems usable. There should be a few youtube videos on loot but mostly it's just experience that's going to get you there.

Buy currency stash tab and pick all orbs that you can place there.
