That's how the original ended and then they did Inuyasha Final Act, which actually gave us some closure and massively picked up the pace. Inuyasha is fucking terrible though and I only ever watched it because the wife liked it.

The ending you mentioned sounded like the original and not FA though. It's worth watching for some damn closure if you already watched everything else, but it's not much better than the original show was anyway.
