Boat has been sitting since last May. Took it out to the lake this last Tuesday and it started up just fine. We were out there for 2-3 hours went to go dock to get ready to load up the boat and it started over heating. I'm not sure if I sucked something up or what.Tried to take a look at it earlier today and it will crank over but not start now. I threw some fuel into the carb and it started up for a split second so I assume I'm not getting fuel. I don't know much about boat engines but I am mechanically inclined I just don't know where to start on these things.

It's an inboard 3.7 mericruiser engine.

Sound like the impeler in the sterndrive might have failed but it shouldnt make your engine not start

Start by figuring out if you have fuel n fire, since its a 86 i guess you have condenser and point distributor

I'm pretty sure i'm not getting fuel cause I can spray inside the carb and it will fire up for the split second and i drained the fuel hose and nothing making its way back into the fuel pump.

Open the carburator filter and see if you have anything coming out

i mean the "air filter" lol get someone to open the throttle and look into it (the carburator)

There should be fuel drippin out the jets
If no your float might be stuck

I had one of those old ass engine back in the days and it always was a pain in the ass every season
