It's difficult to say honestly, but these are my thoughts:
I personally just hope they listened to their fan-base over the years regarding D3 and it's shortcomings. We all know it was lacking in more ways than succeeding (even though if we are being fair, RoS did the best it could to make up for that in spite of a very flawed platform to work with).
Trading, PVP, build mistakes with real penalties and not having one or two class sets being the end-all-be-all are what made D2 the best in the series. D3 took all of that away and trivialized the experience in many ways.
If the D4 devs really go back and learn/apply the D2 roots they have insinuated they will, I think we may have a very good 4th installment coming our way without it being the same game as D2 at the same time.
I am willing to take the chance with buying the game when it comes out to see what they really have to offer this time.
This release will be the true make-or-break test for them - I strongly hope they live up to this challenge.
