I am newer to POE and am considering buying some gear or items to trade with my fg. Is there already a guide that explains the safest way to do this? It would seem GGG does not allow us to properly trade using FG.

Basically msg each other on jsp, make sure you know each other's chart names, trade in game without mentioning jsp. As for getting a mediator... Sometimes it takes forever, so you'll have to use your own judgement

GGG can't know what forums you use or don't use from an in game transaction, so as long as you don't talk about jsp in game, you're fine.
Other than that, common sense applies when trading on jsp.
