"I'd personally fresh install windows and manually update all drivers. fastest way to rule out all software."

The reason I said this first is so you didn't waste money/time.

The wdc 500gb drive should be benched again, that dip should not happen.
I wonder if a services or application tried to access drive at that moment.
If it doesn't reappear then it means nothing if it does then there's something making it lose sudden performance.

The 3 BSOD's you displayed are related to video drivers. Since you obv want an easy way out....
Try going into safe mode and remove both amd and nvidia's drivers (requires 2 reboots).
Then installing the most current drivers for your card, if that doesn't help YOU NEED TO FORMAT.

Okay, thanks.

I already had the SSD, I was just ruling out easy things before going through the massive pain in the ass of reinstalling windows.

I don't appear to have any AMD drivers but I'll try reinstalling the nvidia. Thanks.

Still crashing after uninstalling nvidia driver in safe mode and reinstalling the most recent driver.

System specs since I never gave those:

Corsair Carbide Series 500R Arctic White Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case
CORSAIR CX-M series CX600M 600W 80 PLUS BRONZE Active PFC ATX12V & EPS12V Modular Power Supply
MSI Z77A-G45 Thunderbolt LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge Quad-Core 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W BX80637I73770K Desktop Processor Intel HD ...
Windows 7 Professional (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601.24544)
Installed: 2/3/2014 9:22:24 PM
Boot Mode: UEFI with Secure Boot disabled
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960
64-bit ready
Multi-core (4 total)
Hyper-threaded (8 total)

Debating now whether to reinstall win 7 or grudgingly switch to 10 :/

Those unwilling to accept change.

Not going to lie I probably could of fixed it without nuking it.
Just no time to actually go through all the stuff I'd need from you and its a process
which could take a week with jsp being the medium for communication.

In any event this will rule out software all together and moving forward we should only
be looking for hardware issues unless a "obvious as fuck" software error occurs.

Pretty sure it's fixed... 6 or 8 games since reinstall and no crashes

good, report back in a week after your system has updated fully and had some real time to settle.
also make sure to disable windows automated driver bullshit before you crash down the road.

Crashed today.
https://imgur.com/a/MqifRqz
The SSD is brand new and it was happening with SC2 installed on two different older 500 gb SSDs. Everything else is circa december 2013

I just now disabled windows automated driver. I'll see if i can remove the nvidia and find an older driver from before i started getting crashes.

Seems like there would be hits on other people crashing recently if it was a driver issue though.

This could simply be the driver thing, since you didn't disable windows bs first.
Run ddu and reinstall stable drivers, old or new should be fine.

As for more people reporting, how many people have your exact configuration software and hardware wise..
sc2 is kinda old now as well meaning less players in north america would report in on such things.

If it continues though this is the next step...

You said before you ran memtest... I'm going to have to be sure you actually did it correctly.
When doing the test you let it run for like 12-24 hours till it finished 7 full passes of the test at 100%.
If not I'd like you to run it again but don't stop it before 7 passes, the more passes the better.
Meaning if you can let it run for 2 full days do so... some errors don't present till systems been "burned in" for a bit.
