This is actually critically important. They hire this guy because he gets things done, not because he knows Diablo and the core community (D1 / D2). It reflects how unsure bli$$ard is regarding Diablo at this point. But the guy in charge needs to have the right vision to start with and just getting things done will not produce the desired results.

Hopefully he's a professionist with many years of experience. Same as you djaldult, you guys can exchange your tiktok and discuss

I can already tell how this will pan out. The release date will be earlier which is just what the suits need. They saw how unsure their devs are especially after the load of mostly useless feedback they received. Apparently there is nobody there who really knows Diablo and what made it work, that's why the new guy is hired.

Result: Unsure devs endlessly testing and changing core game systems (like during D3 development) will be reduced because guy can make decisions. Shorter development cycle.
Will it be a better game then D2, a worthy sequel? No because the guy doesn't know how to achieve this and nor is he required too. He's there to make decisions.

Final result -> this will not be a next gen ARPG that's better than D2. You can call it a D2 clone with features to cater to the masses and to milk players as much as they can.

Usually you pick your core team and leadership before you have started making the game.

It's not looking good.

Hopefully they make a single player option so I can download the torrent. Not paying them $80 for a disappointing online experience ever again.

Well at this stage this says it’s still 4 years away from release. You don’t hire a guy like this if development is even 1/3 done.

Thats my biggest worry. Linear story driven 3rd person shooter guy heading up the biggest franchise in ARPGs.
As much as Id love to see D4 not be a puddle of flaming rhino runs, that is exactly what will be produced.
