Unfortunately, I play solo a lot and im new so im not stacked with gear.

i have "decent" daggers in the 80-100EE range, but absolutely no light armor to speak of.

Should I be looking at buying EE gear or stat gear (assuming i need dex?)? I feel like a hybrid is going to be too expensive at the moment to have to layer in charms.

Is my best bet just going stat gear and just trying to play mainly as raw dps in groups?

I appreciate any help/insight!

Go stat robe/charm. EE robes are garbage imo

Get a nice heal charm and put skill point in salvation around 30 and up

It will get tougher/slower at higher levels, but this is the best strategy imo

Unless you have access to a super nice ee padded set :D personally I think soloing in stat gear after lvl 40 sucks horribly. There aren’t nearly enough shrines to heal with and a poor combination of eps will rip ya fast. I definitely prefer slightly slower but fewer regens. Plus tank armors cause higher prof gains. I won’t disagree with low-mid lvl stat gear though because I generally go to 30-35 in stat.

Anything 40-70 isnt a problem for me sustaining melee with salvation and shrines, but after 70~ I normally whistle the last few lvls to MQ so I dont get rekt by EPs. With low vit and int since melee, you aren't getting a ton of value out of those EE robes imo even if they are really high.

If you already explore to 70 you could engage easy mode for 3reg and 1ep max. Generally speaking 1ep should give less trouble than 3 reg mobs at that level. I’ve never been keen on hybrid/salv builds but with mediocre gear I guess it could be a different story.

I thought easy mode doesnt work after 71, so fine for feeder I guess unless I'm mistaken. Hybrid/salv only way to go on robe chars imo regardless of gear quality. My gear is above average and it works well for me ^_^ Might be different on hardcore idk

That’s a common misconception, that while after lvl 70 It stops limiting regular monsters, you still retain the limited ep spawns. I use it from 75 up on most climbs just to push through those levels faster. I guess salv is really a personal preference build. I’ve just never been a fan of it.

this is correct. see post above.

I personally don't think monk is worth the hassle.
my suggestions:
climb again same character but with feeder/samurai/paladin. I regularly climb my main character as a barb.
New character and get to monk again
group climbs

I've given up ladder slasher for long periods of time due to the monk climb being awful. (ninja won't be any better either)

Just invested heavily into a dex robe and high ee dagger so I should be good for groups.

Monk is good, double strike and salvation, detect trap doors. You just gotta whistle the last 5-10 levels

double strike is great but robes just dont tank it enough for 100ee. I've never given salvation a legitimate shot though, i always just used /whistle 1 and healed that way if i wanted to use a heal charm.
could be using a 150ee padded robe with a 110ee dagger, it's still going to be a few hours to go from 71-77.

also this event will not be helping.
+26% Increased Monster Base Difficulty, Bonus Event in progress for 15 hours, 49 minutes
thankfully nearly over.

@Booty, can always try making a group at around level 60, there's a few kind souls who will help you get the last of the way.
