Apparently the news media are largely just reporting official figures from China, but military estimates are that there's north of 100k infected and probably far more dead than is being acknowledged.

Mongolia and Hong Kong have closed their borders with China.

One of the biggest concerns is China's adjacency to India, which has notoriously poor hygiene in highly populated areas. So if it gets loose in the slums of large Indian cities we're gonna see hundreds of millions infected over night.

Reading chinas initial response to the outbreak was to arrest people who went to the media to spread news of the outbreak

Not surprised though it would be nice if the virus could make it's way through the cpc

No rational person is going to believe any news/information that comes out of China regarding this. They notoriously suppress negative press and downplay situations.

My guess would be this is bigger than we realize and that China is doing their best to lessen the blow.



I didn't think about the prospect of this spreading to India. That would be devastating if it hit a major city.

If it spreads to India, it won't be through the border. It will be through air travel. The Chinese population and modes of transportation drop pretty significantly by the time you hit the border. Vietnam is probably more vulnerable.
