Sanders has a legitimate shot at the Democratic nomination. He's about even with Biden in Vegas and even ahead in some books.
One of Biden's biggest appeals to voters is his perceived electability. If Sanders pulls off Iowa and then New Hampshire, that perception could start to change a little bit and flip many delegates down the line in Sanders' favor.
The media has attacked Sanders relentlessly, and continue to do so, but Sanders likely benefited from being in a two-candidate race last time around. As the de facto anti-Hillary, anti-establishment vote, he picked up a lot of attention and support that he otherwise likely would not have received.
So, this may be a self-fulfilling prophecy sort of thing. Bernie SHOULD win both Iowa and New Hampshire...by a lot. If he overperforms in those states, that doesn't really mean he has any sort of electability edge...though a lot of low-information people might believe that.
I really hope that 2020 doesn't come down to two demagogues. That would be the worst thing that could happen to this country.
