im getting this error after installing and patching the game.
ill give 50fg for someone solve me this issue

right click shortcut -- properties -- run as administrator and xp compatibility mode

if that doesn't work try uninstalling and deleting all d2 folders and reinstall

otherwise might be something else

if you are still having this issue, go to your main d2 folder and run the game using Game.exe
this should work since the problem with version usually refers to the application the game was started with (Diablo II.exe by default)~
