Not even. De Beers is a private corporation, and their saturation marketing of "Diamonds Are Forever" and "Just two months salary to show her how much you love her" created the false image there is now. Their market control created the false scarcity, as well.

Fuck De Beers.

I work with EHS managers w/ their facilities (including new automated factories) to have the proper signage, lockout procedures, spill kits, etc

I wouldn't say I'm making money off of automation tho

ahhh yes we're on different ends of the business but same stuff. we generally dont concern ourselves with safety much, other than general OSHA requirements for guarding around pinchpoints and bottom and/or top covers in case of dust in the environment or product breaking.

im also a bit more connected to the profits, as our company is profit sharing and employees in design/project management (im in both) get a larger share than typical assembly workers.

Labor theory if value would say that diamonds would be worth less if robots mines them easier because the amount of labor needed to locate, extract, and refine has been reduced, and since the source of value has been reduced (due to them simply becoming easier to get) the end product is worth less. Things like rarity and scarcity are accounted for in the amount of labor it takes to find, extract, use, etc.

This is sound theory and describes reality well.

Marx says the labor theory of value ends when we achieve automation. He is a proponent of the end of work and automation.

correct, Marxism's aims of equality, especially utilyzing automation, are well and good. but when i read 2020 liberlols spouting labor narratives i cringe. labor is more in danger than the Black Rhino, we'll keep a few of those in zoos at least.

He is explicitly designing the automated systems that put people out of jobs. He's making money by designing and selling the tools that allow automation to happen.

(Aka he's the enemy! Burn him with the 1%)

I don't believe in a goal of or end to history personally.

I think automation should be the end goal, but with the people reaping the profits, not 600 billionaires.
