Looking to upgrade my current, just seems to be lagging a bit lately. I don't really do any gaming other than d2 and agario (don't judge).
Current is amd a10-5800k, msi a55m-e33 fm2+ mobo and 8gb ddr3 ram

Found a build posted locally with an i5-4590 and a GTX 1060 card with 16gb ram and 1tb HD for $200. Comes with bunch of stuff I don't need like monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset. All of which I will sell off.

Can't decide if it's worth taking a shot on or if I should just upgrade my own with new mb, apu, ram

Also just bought a new 27 HD ips monitor

Even if it's 5 years old? Still worth it?

I'm using a 7 year old cpu right now with literally no reason to upgrade other then to waste 1k.
reality is you won't get much better for the money and you have the extra's to sell.

Also forget the overclocking part I thought that cpu could oc but it can't its not a unlocked version.

Understood. That person sold it out from underneath me. But I just came across this, same price.

I7-970
Gtx 970
16 gb ram
128 ssd
1tb hdd
Aio water cooled (I know nothing about this)
800w corsair power
More extras I'll sell

Looking at stats, sounds like it is almost equivalent to the other computer, right?

no, far older not nearly as good, huge leaps were made between the 2 builds.

Well fuck

Seeing how I don't really do anything needing a gpu, what's the downside to just going and buying a prebuilt dell with a i7-3770, 8gb ram, 500gb for $150 and then just adding a small ssd if necessary?

nothing really, except may need a new psu for it with a new gpu.
I use the 3770k myself its fine for gaming not ideal if streaming.

Why a new gpu? Thought there was on board graphics?
Also, why new power supply? Unless that's just negate new gpu and needing it for that?

I maybe watch something on my computer very rarely and no graphic intense games
