I haven't played classic in like 18+ years and I totally forgot the game ends when you kill Diablo.
Has it ever been discovered why they did this? I can't remember for the life of me.

in d1 the game just ended after the diablo kill with a terrible video and no loot or exp or continous game play

I know; I just played through D1 on all 3 classes recently lmfao...(if you play multiplayer you can loot diablo and keep playing on D1; but not so here)

My point is WHY!? Why would they code it that way? What is the purpose or reasoning behind it?

wrong. i have a lvl31 sorc and lvl26 rogue on bnet useast, and the game instantly ends when diablo dies and cuts to the end cinematic

why not ?

In multiplayer, everybody who was on level 16 is kicked from the game. If you weren't on level 16, you can continue to play, so you just keep one char outside of level 16.

i'll just take your word for it since i can't find anyone to play battle.net with me on diablo 1...

and the game isn't really multiplayer friendly.. not to mention multiplayer was an afterthought for diablo 1 since battle.net didn't even exist until 6-7 months prior to diablo 1's release...

agreed it's terrible....but the whole game is clunky as hell I could barely stand it but I played through on all 3 chars. I don't really see much point in leveling past like 25 or 26 it's not even necessary it's such an easy game.
