better off getting a credit card asap to build up your credit, for now it's best not to finance a car with no credit history, you're rate will be pretty high if you can't get a solid co sign

credit car history means nothing for car loans unfortunately, he may have to eat a shit rate for a year and re finance.

Umm no... everything credit related matters. Credit card history and management has a big impact on any credit request.

Also most lenders dont refinance cars.

its a different type of credit if you will. Essentially the same thing sure but lenders wont look at it the same.
he could very well have a 7xx+ fico be considered prime and never missed a card payment in his life, but without actual loan history his rates wont be great. Outside of using his credit union or something.

You're right just having good CC history and good scores doesn't mean you will qualify prime but will still get you better non prime rates or smaller prime loans. Having sloppy CC history can definitely convince a prime lender to pass on your application for cars or mortgage. CC history by far doesn't mean nothing.
