old thread expired

just started this up. So far I give it a solid B. I think this is what I needed to wash the taste of GoT out of my mouth.

It just has just enough mystery to keep me interested. Cavill is doing really well. It's sliding itself stealthily around the medieval fantasy tropes to feel a little fresh.

I'll be watching when i get off work with a stiff drink.

The Witcher 3 is my favorite game of recent memory. I've read most of the books, and i'm excited to get started on the show.

I also need to wash out the taste of GOT S8.... Still bitter.

Glad to hear you think Cavill is doing well. I thought it would be really hard to capture the unique personality of Geralt.

The pacing needed work and the time jumps were jarring at first but they eventually made sense, it's definitely something you need to binge to get the whole picture.
While the games have some of the lore, you'll still be quite confused if you haven't read at least The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny which is what the first season was based on.
Henry fucking nailed it.

And for those that were confused about the bard's name Jaskier, that is his polish name, which when translated would mean buttercup in english. Which is a bit much. So they went with dandelion.

I finished it and I really enjoyed it. I only played the games so I’m no expert on the source material but it was still very enjoyable

The biggest issue was the end of the show was rushed as fuck, it really would have benefited from a couple more episodes. That’s my only real complaint though and Henry Cavill is absolutely great in it

8/10, excited for more

Another thing to note, there are three timelines occurring each episode. Ciri is the present. Yennefer by herself is far into the past. Geralt is in the middle, Yennefer eventually catches up with Geralt and then Geralt eventually catches up with Ciri.

as someone with no prior knowledge of Witcher stuff, there is one question that maybe someone can help me with: who/what is Ciri's biological father?

was Ciri's mother already pregnant when cursed Porcupine knight busted into the feast? Or Did she magically become pregnant when Witcher made his "law of surprise" wish at the end of the night?

Emhyr var Emreis is her father. Porcupine knight/Duny is Emhyr. They were secretly seeing each other a year prior to that feast.

ok w8 so

the show kinda makes Nilfgaard out to be the bad guys

but Ciri's father is actually the legitimate heir to emperor of Nilf? so he's kinda like the underdog prince charming type of the whole thing?
