Hey I’ve mained healers since bc and am looking now to main a dps dk. My issue is that at least with healers as long as I do great in mythic and with whatever group I’m responsible for in raids no one has really cared what my hps was, giving me creating freedom to heal (within reason) how I want. I’m afraid if I switch to dps I’m gonna be stuck in meta rotation just hitting mindless macros for mythics and raids.

Is this the case?

Do whatever you find is fun. Dps isnt too hard once you get your class and hotkeys down, rest is just gear

Depends on who you are playing with and at what level of raid/dungeon

1. Unholy dk specifically like most classes in wow nowadays do not have a "rotation" they have a priority list which is slightly different but has a much smoother gameplay because every fight plays out slightly different do to procs and what not. Much like how healing doesn't have rotation but priority on what heals you should use in what situations.
2. If you mythic raid or any m+ key at a certain level id say 18+ there most definitely is a right and wrong way to play it, just like dps. The main difference is no one cares about HPS as long as noone dies lol (to a certain extent). Dps is more competition and always has been. Not to say that healing isn't but DPS definitely gets more limelight.

Thanks for that alpha! Glad to see there is someone to contribute to the wow forums still. Yeah that’s what I’ve noticed with healing as long as no one dies or in general the run goes really smooth, I get complimented and no complaints healing. But I feel like everyone is always reading dps meters. I guess I’ll just have to feel it out when I get to 15s. I’ve noticed it’s not a rotation but I priority thing which in general is much in line with healing, so should be fine.

Thanks again for the effort and opinion man, great read

I usually just hit all the buttons at once until the mob dies.

While dosing you do have to pay attention to a different set o mechanics than you would as healer. Know the fights from your chosen role. Like it's different. Melee, ranged watch dbm thotbot wowhead
