Justice Dept. Investigating Years-Old Leaks and Appears Focused on Comey
An inquiry into years-old disclosures of classified information is highly unusual and leaves law enforcement officials open to accusations of politicizing their work.

not a biased way to start this at all... they must have forgot the FISC abuse investigation was only released less than 2 months ago. and that the investigation into Comey leaking the memo's of convo with Trump was released not too long before that.

to be fair though, it's only speculation at this point.

WASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors in Washington are investigating a years-old leak of classified information about a Russian intelligence document, and they appear to be focusing on whether the former F.B.I. director James B. Comey illegally provided details to reporters, according to people familiar with the inquiry.

Was this one of the investigations with a proper predicate or spurred by Barr's Fox News viewing habits?

Were the Dutch part of the NWO/Rothschild plot? Or did Russians actually do something bad?

again. i can't even confirm "this" investigation exists. as far as i'm aware this is the only source.

did you write this article? your comment throws conspiracy on top of false facts for ground, spun around a layer of vagueness.

good time to go back a couple years and look at the memos released by Nunes and Schiff

This memorandum provides Members an update on significant facts relating to the
Committee?s ongoing investigation into the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI) and their use of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (F ISA) during the
2016 presidential election cycle. Our ?ndings, which are detailed below, 1) raise concerns with
the legitimacy and legality of certain DOJ and FBI interactions with the Foreign Intelligence
Surveillance Court (FISC), and 2) represent a troubling breakdown of legal processes established
to protect the American people from abuses related to the ISA process.

Schiff

The Majority?s move to release to the House of Representatives its allegations against the
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department. ofJustice is a transparent effort
to undermine those agencies, the Special Counsel, and Congress? investigations. It also risks
public exposure of sensitive sources and methods for no legitimate purpose.

FBI and of?cials did not ?abuse? the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) process,
omit material information, or subvert this vital tool to spy on the Trump campaign.

The former FBI director James Comey said this week that your report vindicates him. Is that a fair assessment of your report?

M. Horowitz: (00:11)
I think the activities we found here don’t vindicate anybody who touched this.

The FISC is a secretive, clandestine court that should be abolished. In its 33 year history, it has rejected warrants about 0.03% of the time. The Horowitz report was damning. This court is a violation of civil liberties.

i was unable to watch all of this yet, but the Republican side kept questions focused to the FISC. 2 of them, i'm taking issue with.

the live feed became unlisted videos. i was able to find this through some browser searching, but it's not showing on the YT channel.

FBI Director Christopher Wray testifies before House Judiciary

1. "some" GoP members are seeming to take issue with one of the roles picked to help address the issues with the FISC.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fisa-court-new-overseer-gop-criticism
Quote
The GOP official added: "It's concerning that our of all the people FISC could have chosen to lead it's reform efforts, the court selected an Obama era official who has ignored the illegal surveillance of Carter Page."

Kris served in the Obama administration as assistant attorney general for national security from 2009 to 2011, and he served as an associate deputy attorney general under George W. Bush from 2000 to 2003.

Kris has penned columns in support of the FBI’s surveillance practices, prompting GOP concerns over his new role overseeing reforms tied to those practices.

as far as i can tell it's only an advisory role, and he has also been vocal in the needs of reform after the release of the IG's FISA report. even stating that more needs to be done than what is suggested.
he also wasn't even serving as AG under Obama in his second term. (when all of this happened)
Quote
Yet in his new role, Kris has taken a firm approach -- recently blasting the bureau's proposals for FISA reforms as "insufficient," and saying they must be dramatically "expanded" in the wake of a critical Justice Department inspector general report last year.

Kris, in a letter to Boasberg last month, declared that the proposed corrective actions to the FISA system “do not go far enough to provide the Court with the necessary assurance of accuracy, and therefore must be expanded and improved.”

Overall, Kris echoed the findings of the Justice Department Inspector General (IG), noting that the FBI had "profoundly" and repeatedly "breached its obligation" to provide accurate information to the secret court "through a series of significant and serious errors and omissions" during the Russia probe.

looks like a non-issue.

2. "some" GoP members are looking exclusively for a reaction from Chris Wray over the abuse of the FISC.
i understand "why" they want this to happen - it would be a lot harder for people to deny the atrocities committed by particular prior agents surrounding the FISC during the investigation into Trump's Campaign. it would also be testimony Durham could use.
Wray is professional to keep emotions and opinion out of testimony. all this would be doing is trying to prove the bias of prior FBI, while showing the bias of your own FBI. it's pretty dumb for GoP to try to force this.

stick to reform please

Remember that John Durham's investigation into the causes of the russiagate investigation would be released until spring/summer 2020
