Ye I understand, it's a common assumption for people that captchas are secure but they really aren't. I promise the runners won't be bothered by this type of thing more than regular players will, having to do it every game.
Most captchas are easy to just figure out/bypass and the harder ones you can just forward to a solver api with either some better OCR running or actual people (mostly in china) who solve them within 10-15 seconds.
/Edit and the interesting part is that even using these solvers is extremely cheap, usually a few pennies per result.
/Edit again also d2 doesn't really support embedded browsers atm, so it would be a bit more costly to them to make that work in the first place or would require their own solution without the browser that also isn't cheap.

Theres definetly been some kind of duping going on, the prices are pretty much what it was a month in last ladder, and it hasn't even been a week. Next week bers are gonna drop to 50fg

Bots ruin the game

Bots even run through the game now, not jsut runs, so D2 has become truly hands free

They can’t remaster the game because they don’t have any of the art anymore lol

Myself and most people I know came back to the game and enjoyed it until the end.
Your assumptions about the player base say pretty much everything of how you don't know what you're talking about...
The first two months the list of games was ALWAYS filled with a LOT of players playing until late at night. And it was just on the EU Hardcore side, it was even more on East.

Today ? We are barely a WEEK away from the ladder reset and the list is empty as hell. Not to mention the current state of the market on jsp, neither.

So yeah, I would say people who only enjoy the game through the lens of botting must be happy in 2019, hence why those people you know came back I suppose? And guess what, 90% of the people with whom I enjoyed this ''bot-less'' ladder don't even try the game again considering its current state, and their friends aswell. The 10% remaining ones started to bot (lol) and, as intended, you don't see them in public anymore.

So starting to claim the game would be dead without bots makes no sense, from this ladder experience.
