I have an A40TR mixamp.

If I use an optical and usb switch would I be able to hook it up to my xbox and my computer and simply just switch them back and forth depending on which I would want to hear on the headset?

Depends. Do you have the mixamp pro made for Xbox/pc? If so then yes. Would just have to toggle the switch between them. Just make sure you move the switch on the front of the amp between Xbox and pc respectively.

Thought you were using https://www.astrogaming.com/en-us/products/headsets/pc-mac/mixamp-tr-gen-4.html#939-001665.

It should also work for the one you have though. They work they same way and they both advertise support for the pc and xbox with the exact same inputs so yeah, a switch should definitely work.
