Yeah, those situations can be tough. Even if you act really grounded and composed, that anxiety can still get to you internally.
Develop and internalize anxiety -> no appetite/poor sleep -> difficult to consume food/feel nauseous when trying to force feed -> Feel weak -> Stop working out for a bit (or try to still do it, but just feel weak from lack of quality meals).
