anyway, friday and i'm headed out

all i'm saying is yes, the astros cheated and broke a rule that was just that year mentioned as being one that would receive harsher punishments

did it help? did it not? who knows, numbers indicate it didn't, but we'll never know for sure

at the end of the day, everyone for all of time has cheated in baseball, i'm just not sure why now every player is acting like a saint and pointing the finger houston's way like they murdered baby seals the whole 2017 season

i'm curious why all these players are saying how good they'd be knowing pitches (trout, stanton, judge, etc)

houston's splits show they were better on the road than at home

also, some of those videos that show the banging are so real time i have to question how prevalent it really was

there's some where the second the catcher shows the sign there's a bang

didn't they say it was relayed to a room, then shouted down a hallway to the dugout trashcan?

you're telling me a bunch of dudes with the education of an 8 year old can read a sign, decode it, yell it down a hall to another player who understands immediately to process to bang or not?

also, the logic of the system seems flawed

"no bang = fastball"

what if they just couldn't decode in time? rofl. almost seems like an unproductive advantage, you think "hmmm no bang, fastall" but it's just that the ballboy didn't find the drum stick fast enough

I heard they cheated on the road during the regular season, so only the postseason splits matter.

They were sitting on breaking balls. If a guy mostly only throws 2 pitches they could also safely guess that it was a fastball if the signal didnt come.

An interesting post I saw on Reddit mentioned that Kershaw threw 51 breaking balls/sliders in game 5 of the 2017 world series and didn't get a single swing and miss. In the regular season,
Kershaw had a 44% swing and miss rate on his slider, 35% on his curve and 25% on his changeup.

Using those percentages, the odds of the Astros not having a single swing and strike on 51 pitches equal to roughly 0,0000000372%, or one in 2.7 billion.

Crazy.
