Its not mainstream enough to attract many botters, and there's not that much content generated around it so you can play it and be oblivious to the fact that others are pay to win. With a larger title, thats not possible.
I never had big problem with players who pay to win, they didn't affect my charachter and my gameplay and they were in minorty anyway, only problem was with ledderboards and for people who want to compete basiclly all top 20-50 spots in D3 were players who bought many gz items but you also needed to play alot, its not just they bought gear, those were the players that bought parts of gear and grind like crazy. But knowing that and you made it to top 100 without buying gear that means that you are top 20 or 50 in real sense.
