https://www.twitch.tv/rhykkerRhykker has a dev on twitch stream. The more I hear the devs the more it's clear that:
a) it's diablo 3.5
b.) they're VERY early in development, which is GOOD because they seem to be willing to change alot depending on community feedback
Some things mentioned:
- Rares/crafts have no real use past leveling
- Heavy dependant on legendaries. They want millions of legendary. Legendarys that are build altering - changing how ur skills work e.g.
- There will be "mythic" legendaries...
- Character/item stats they "try hard to simplify" (no pls nooo) - attack/armor from demos CONFIRMED "attack power" stat, so u will see "instantly what is an upgrade or not"
- There will be Bind on Pickup, bind on "first trade", limited trade within party(maybe?). Some limitations but "due to change from community feedback".
(overall the Itemization sounds 90% d3...)
- random loots mostly, with some deterministic loot/loot tables (thats good)
- Crafting is really transmuting/enchanting gear (again, like d3?)
- PvP will not be competitive really, theyre wanting to combine pvp/pve in some weird way. MAYBE arenas but "too early". Not E-sport viable definitely.
- Runewords are not runewords, limited to combo of two(2) atm?
- Hardcore will exist. No word on how the f HC and "pvp areas" will work
- max level currently 40
- no words on mercenaries
- achievements
- They plan on expansion(s) already, which will introduce new classes, 5 planned on release. "several expansions will be released for sure, similar to with previous titles" (lol wtf d2 had one, d3 had one?)
- D4 is NOT an MMO, but they want MMO aspects
- when you die you are punished: u have to run back from WP + u drop gold (that u can pick up)
- Class-specific item types
- They really want everything/basically everything to be solo-able, but want team play to be encouraged. Perhaps slightly favoured to team play - "it's a tough balance". World boss=raid fashion, but no literal raids in D4 yet.
David ends the QA with a reminder theyre far from shipping, and that they are open to change most/everything based on community feedback.
Guy seems allright
other notes: dev has played Diablo 2 for a maximum of 10-50 hours tops.
