Not to go a little off-topic here but this is LeBron James related. It also sucks when there's no NBA games!
LeBron James had a lot to say about the Houston Astros cheating scandal during some recent tweets. I'm all for that fierce criticism because we deserve it. I love when a prominent sports athlete offers some leadership and a strong voice of reason even when it comes to another pro sport. I'm an Astros fan and even I'm disgusted by what they did in 2017. Vacating the 2017 World Series title is likely the only way to please most of the haters.
Usually I agree with LeBron on a lot of issues especially when it comes to politics. But when Daryl Morey was tweeting about supporting freedom in Hong Kong, which angered China and ruined the NBA's relationship with China ($200M in revenues lost in 2019-2020), I didn't see LeBron James supporting our freedom of speech as Americans. He seemed to be protecting China's interest (his own financial gains) more than Morey's opinion.
Maybe it's just me but if LeBron has a lot to tweet about why not be more consistent with his strong values and beliefs? He hates cheating and that's awesome! But he's not okay when an NBA general manager tweets an opinion about freedom? Hmm. I admire LeBron James. His moral fiber isn't to be questioned, but I do find it to be odd how he's so talkative and in agreement about one subject being completely wrong and not the other. Right is right and wrong is wrong. But when there's money involved all of a sudden it's okay to defend China at all costs. So is it money and global branding over freedom?
TL:DR version: LeBron tweets a lot. We need the NBA to start up again! Thankfully tomorrow night there will be some NBA action. There have been some boring days lately when LeBron is tweeting about baseball. I'm ready to enjoy the Houston Rockets at Golden State Warriors game on Thursday Night. 9:30 p.m. on TNT!
