I'm not sure if it's clear from the title / topic description, so here comes a little more detailed explanation.

When a user blocks you and you attempt to write that user a message, you are being notified about the block
just after you have typed your message and attempted to send it. This can be very annoying and frustrating,
especially if it was a long text you put much time into. Yes most blocks are surely for a good reason but there are
probably also some blocks that occured due to some unhappy and unfortunate events...

For this reason, it would be better to know if you are blocked right after pressing the button Send a Message.

No point in this, if you are blocked it’s probably for a good reason. Don’t dwell on it and move on.

Yeah probably, or maybe not, who knows :p
The main point is to make this more user-friendly by letting you know if someone blocked you, directly upon pressing the "Send a Message" button. Else you will be spending your time typing a message that a person will never receive since you didn't even know that this person blocked you.

Unless you plan on writing an essay (which most users won’t want to read anyways) there shouldn’t be that large of a time waste when you realize you were blocked. I also voted no on this suggestion

No.

Can't imagine typing an essay to someone who might've me blocked.

Long message or short, it would be friendlier for every user to immediately know if you are blocked.
And that's what this suggestion is actually all about, user-friendliness. This is a really small but helpful
change, and I personally see no damage or disadvantage in it.

Honestly see the benefit in this.
Cutting it off from the start would stop people from building up emotions more only to be cut off and resort to more drastic measures.

There is zero harm in this and yet a small benefit.

E: oh yeah I should've read your suggestion more carefully.
It makes sense you are notified when you click the pm button, and not after you've typed a message.

Oh well.
