I see a lot of these going around. Are they strictly for trophies or are they in some cases better than runewords?

Depending on the gear-set and kind of character, they are in many ways better than runewords for PvP.

no they're pure garbage and some of the reasons inbreds prize them because they want to be seen as "original and unique" instead of cookie cutter

hence the reason why they're used in melee only(read subhuman) duels ...like point and click zeal or BvBv/conc barbs. To even compete with grief you need something like this




But always remember a GoDz hits 439 minimum to 517 max. While even that zerker worth over a hundred k fg can hit only like 144 and if you get a bad roll you're ded.

The only weapon i can think of beating a grief is a cruel 450%ed 40 ias eth self rep + max dmg legendary mallet. And im not even 100% sure it will though

I like them allows for mass ar. I wish grief was never made. Greif= more dmg but fools will hit twice as much .. My charger really benefits from them with a fools pointgard I do 10k dmg and get 25k to 30k ar. With fools tm I do 32k dmg and have 22k ar with mass deadly strike and decent crushing blow.

Grief has itd and -def for pvm
Charger can benefit from 2h weapon that can actually have better dmg output AND ar

eth rep fools is only useful in gm melee duels

but gm melee is silly and so...

may as well just make a smiter

I have huge perversion towards shapeshifter stuff like 75 ias fools flanged knives and pbs

Price is high because they are extremely rare. They have big AR bump, but instead of this, they're worse then RWs. Melees already have enough AR for pvp/tvt in most cases, so you are probably better with Grief/Botd. They might be some real use for them though, like BvB duel.
