He would lose like 100 to all res with this switch. Seems like it would make it easier to die.

But in the long run, I guess it would gain more damage

Enigma + gheed is more mf than nagelring*2 +coh + wartrav. You can use tri res boots if you lack res or small charms, but only fire + light matters and it's not like there's this many powerful spell. With a strong character like this you barely get hit and you have more life
