My sound card on my MOBO maximus hero seem to be faulty, its quite old set up, 5+ years old

when i plug my hyper x cloud heat set in with 3.5mm jack left ear is much louder than right

i have borrowed my mates hyper x cloud II with his headset soundcard which is USB and plugged my head set in and there no issues both ears same sound

i have plugged my mates headset directly into my MOBO sound card and same issue one louder than the other

I haven't really tried reinstalling driver ect... was just going to get one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Sound-Blaster-Resolution-External/dp/B073KTPNDR/ref=asc_df_B073KTPNDR/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310829205597&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=250932672996985668&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007266&hvtargid=pla-358696275725&psc=1&th=1&psc=1

Maybe i should trouble shoot a bit more before buying USB sound card?

Also are USB sound cards any good? I mainly play CSGO so sound is very important for me but at same time i dont want to spend loads on it, may as well add more and buy hyper x cloud II but at same time dont want to do that ether since my headset isn't broken

any advice?

It would probably help being more descriptive.

Make sure your headset is plugged in to your 'faulty soundboard card' before trying below:
Assuming you're windows, right click your volume icon->sounds->playback tab-> select your headphones here, if you're not sure which are the headphones, right click each and press 'test to hear a test sound on whatever device it is -> properties -> levels -> press "balance" and ensure they are both the same number.
